Happy Monday everyone! Today you are taking your "TEST" on Transformations. Log into Castle learning and answer assignment "8RDL Transformations #2"
Once you start this assignment, it must be completed within 24 hours. Good luck!
Additional Notes: Today you are starting working with Exponents. An exponent is the small, raised number, also known as the power. It is attached to a larger number called the base. Each exponent refers to its individual base:
When a base is raised to a power of zero, the answer is always 1, except when the base is 0 itself, (which you don't have to be worried about):
The new concept today is with Negative Exponents. Just like we cannot leave negative signs in denominators of fractions, we cannot leave exponents negative. To make a negative exponent positive, we have to rewrite the base using its reciprocal. Remember reciprocal is when we flip a fraction upside down:
First 4 minutes!
Additional Notes: When bases are being divided, you keep the base and subtract the exponents. The classwork shows how you can expand the numerator and denominator then cancel out like terms. Be careful when there are negative exponents involved:
Minute 2 to 3:32
Additional Notes: When bases are being multiplied, you keep the base and add the exponents. The classwork shows how you can expand the powers
First 3:10
First 1:51
You are OFF from school today (for Good Friday.) Wishing you all a Happy Easter and a Happy Passover! See you Monday
**Please be aware that if you have not yet completed Castle Learning 8RDL Transforations 2, it MUST be completed by midnight tonight.
