Scoliosis Screening

State law requires that all girls in grades 5 and 7 and boys in grade 9 be examined for scoliosis. (Lateral curvature of the spine). I conduct this screening in November. The screening will take place during your child’s regular physical education class.

For the examination, girls are encouraged to wear either two-piece bikini type swimwear or a sports bra so the spine is clearly defined. Boys will be reminded to wear their regular gym shorts. They will be asked to remove their shirts.

You may also elect to have your own physician do the screening, but I will need documentation from your doctor of the results.
