Day 1 SDK Airport or Hotel – SDK Yacht Club Jetty - Abai, Kinabatangan River. Overnight. (L,D)

This is an opportunity to get up close to the very best that Sabah can offer.

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport and transfer to Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty for the boat ride to the lodge in Abai, on the Kinabatangan River. The 1.5 hour boat ride will take you across Sandakan Bay passing the historical Berhala Island and fishing villages.

On arrival at the lodge, you will be greeted by your guide and proceed check in to your room. Lunch is served at their restaurant. You then have leisure time to stroll through Abai or relax by the river before embarking by boat up Sahah's longest river at 1630hrs. Our guides, and the boat captain, will help you spot wildlife and birds in their Secondary Rainforest habitat. The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary is one the best places in Southeast Asia to observe wildlife from the boat. We will search for the famous endemic Proboscis Monkeys as they settle down on treetops. If we are lucky we will see Wild Orang Utans and a herd of Borneo pygmy Elephants. This is a favourite habitat of birds including raptors, horn bills, king fisher and others. Long Tail and Short Tail Macaques roam the banks which are the home of the Kinabatangan crocodile. As evening falls we will observe fireflies shimmering above the water and along the banks as we cruise back to resort for dinner.

After dinner, you can take an amazing hour long stroll along a boardwalk and using your headlamps or torch and look for nocturnal wildlife (depends on weather conditions). On our return to the lodge you can relax before going to bed. Overnight.

Day 2 Oxbow Lake – SDK Yacht Club - SDK Airport or Hotel (B)

We begin the day with a Morning Cruise to observe more wildlife and birds. When we return to lodge breakfast will be waiting and we then proceed to check out for the 1.5 hr boat ride back to the Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty.

On arriving at the jetty and you will transfer to your hotel or Sandakan Airport. Tour finishes about 1300hrs. End of services.

Day 2 Oxbow Lake – Abai Village – Abai, Kinabatangan River. Overnight. (B,L,D)

We begin the day with a Morning Cruise to observe more wildlife and birds with the packed breakfast. Continue visit the local fishing village, Kampung Abai. Interact with the local Orang Sungai (River People) and observe the daily activities in this tiny fishing village. Return to the lodge for a free at leisure. Lunch served a restaurant. There will be tea and other refreshments before commencing a River Cruise which will last about 2hrs. We will spot wildlife including animals and birds. After dinner, relax and free at leisure. Overnight.

Day 3 SDK Yacht Club - SDK Airport or Hotel (B)

After breakfast we then proceed to check out for the 1.5 hr boat ride back to the Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty.

On arriving at the jetty and you will transfer to your hotel or Sandakan Airport. Tour finishes about 1300hrs. End of services.
