I am a senior at Rock Canyon High School working towards achieving the AP Capstone Diploma. After building necessary skills by successfully completing AP Seminar junior year, I am currently enrolled in the AP Research course.
The inspiration for my research comes from being an avid debater. Competing in speech and debate for seven years has exposed me to many global issues, but learning about the injustices women face in the United States and around the world has had the most profound impact on me. This is motivating me to conduct research studying women's rights legislation, and to pursue a future career to fight for women's rights in the United States and abroad.
I spend most of my time getting involved in my school community. My passion for feminism led me to start the Women Empowerment and Equality Club with my best friend where we have addressed issues including the dress code, sexual assault and harassment, and women in leadership. I also find happiness in singing in my school's Select Treble Choir, The Echos, volunteering with National Honor Society, and competing with the Technology Student Association.
In my free time, you can find me on a run, getting Boba Tea with my friends, shopping at Trader Joe's, and playing Aretha Franklin or Phoebe Bridgers.
If you have any questions about my research, please don't hesitate to reach out at stroudfj@s.dcsdk12.org. I would love to hear from you!
