While finishing my data collection I discovered that there was an unfair bias and that third-world countries were given harsher punishments than first-world countries. As seen in the image above the breakdown for punishments between first world and third world countries is shown and you can see the trend that as the punishment increases the number of third world countries athletes goes up and the number of first world countries athletes number goes down. While also finalizing my data I found out that the most common punishment is less than a month, the most common steroid/PED used is Testosterone and the sport with most athletes that use steroids and PEDs is Track and Field.
This data matters because it proves that there is a bias and proves my hypothesis correct. A few reasons why there may be a bias is because of factors such as the popularity of athletes in first-world countries, the overall power of first-world countries, and Revenue generated by first-world countries. These are important factors because it does prove why these first-world countries receive less punishment.
Some factors that were limitations to my research were time, lack of Academic research, cover-ups, new information every day, the timing of the Olympic games, and the legalization of drugs (ex: marijuana). These limitations did cause some issues with data collection because with new information every day my data could be skewed.

With my data collection and research up to this process I have decided that the Olympic committee is more lenient towards punishments for first-world countries which proved my hypothesis was correct. With this data, I plan to continue to see if my data trends the same way with future Olympic games. I also plan to look at if this trend is the same for the special Olympics and junior Olympics.
I handled the uncertainty of the research process by just being consistent while looking for data and also switching up the key terms that I was looking for when researching.
If I could revisit the research process the only thing that I would do differently is to look for even more data so that I am able to limit bias.
