Eric Chamberlin, Head Coach

Coach Eric Chamberlin was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa. He began wrestling in high school. After serving in the military for over 20 years, he retired from military service and began a career at Russell County in 2017 as a science teacher. He volunteered as a wrestling coach his first year teaching and then was hired as the head coach in the Fall of 2018.

In the three years since he has been coaching, Russell County has seen 13 athletes qualify for the state tournament and one place winner. In 2 years as the head coach, he has led the team to almost 50 dual wins.

Coach Chamberlin hopes to lead the school to its first Individual State Champion. His philosophy is to practice hard and wrestle often!

Frank Saunders, Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Frank Saunders is coming to Russell County this year from Barbour County High School. He is also coaching football as the Assistant Outside Linebackers Coach. He began teaching and coaching football and wrestling at Columbus High in 1999. He was the founder of the Chattahoochee County Wrestling Program and coached wrestling there for a number of years. He is looking forward to getting back into coaching wrestling here at Russell County.

Coach Saunders lives in Columbus and has a son who is a Senior at the University of Georgia. He teachers in the Russell County High School Special Education Department.
