FAQs

1) When is the first school day for grades 1, 2 and 3?

The first school day for grades 1, 2 and 3 is Thursday, August 29. It is a staggered start, meaning students only attend school in the afternoon. Students are dropped off between 12:00 pm and 12:15 pm and are picked up at 2:45 pm. This is a non-uniform day, and students dress in comfortable “Be You” attire.

Friday, August 30, is the first full day of school for students in grades 1, 2, and 3. This is a formal uniform day.

2) When is the first day of school for kindergarten students?

The first day of school for kindergarten students is a staggered entrance on Tuesday, September 3. Students attend school for one hour with their parents. This is a non-uniform day, and students dress in comfortable “Be You” attire. The specific time to attend is based on the class the child is enrolled in. We anticipate these details will be shared with families via email during the week of August 19-23.

Also in kindergarten, personal interviews will be arranged for parents to meet the classroom teacher and discuss school start up and the kindergarten program. These interviews will be on August 29 and 30. Parents will be invited to sign up for a specific time slot in early July.

The first full day of school for kindergarten students is Wednesday, September 4, and it will be a formal uniform day for them.

3) When will I find out about my child's classroom teacher?

Your child's teacher will call all their students/parents after August 26.  This will be an opportunity for the teacher to introduce themselves, share some brief school start-up information, and answer any questions you may have.

4) What do I do if my child has a nut allergy, asthma, or a health concern?

Please advise your classroom teacher of any health concerns when they call, and ensure you keep PowerSchool updated with your child’s health information. Also, we request that you inform your child’s teacher and update the emergency/medical information in PowerSchool if there are any significant changes in your child's health.

5) How will I know where to drop off and pick up my child on their first day?

Details about the drop-off and pick-up routines are posted on MYRUNDLE.  Students are dropped off and picked up at their assigned drop-off zones. There will be many teachers outside to help you navigate these routines!

6) On the first day, can I park my car and walk my child into his or her classroom?

Except for our kindergarten students' first day, we ask all our parents to "drop and go" when dropping off their child. This best prepares your child for Rundle routines and independence, and ensures a safe and fluid traffic flow. Rest assured, there will be many teachers to help guide and support your child.

7) Can my child wear the short-sleeve shirt or blouse for the formal uniform?

Yes, but please note that arms must be covered as part of the formal uniform. This means that if your child wears a short-sleeve shirt or blouse, they must wear a long-sleeve sweater. Alternatively, if your child chooses to wear a long-sleeve shirt or blouse, they must wear either a vest or a long-sleeve sweater.

8) Are there microwaves for my child to use?

There are no microwaves available for primary student use.

9) Does my child need to bring any school supplies?

No, your child does not need to purchase or bring school supplies! The school will purchase all the necessary supplies and bill the parents in September. Details are shared in the FAQ below (#10).

10) What fees are there, and how do I pay?

There are fees for the following:

K-3 school fees are as follows:

11) What does my child bring on the first FULL school day?

Please ensure all personal belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s first and last name.

school Volunteering

Police Information Check (PIC) Process for Volunteers

All parents who would like to volunteer to work with students, or in the Collett school building in any capacity will need to have a PIC (Police Information Check) completed and submitted to the school.

As this process can sometimes take a little time (about two weeks), we want to give you a heads-up about the steps involved so that you may get started over the summer. If you plan on being a school volunteer this September, please complete your police check by July 31, 2023 in order to have it processed in time for fall.
