Follow these steps when you are using the Lockdown Browser:
Ask all students to restart their Chromebooks
Direct students to open ONE TAB ONLY on Chrome
Tell students to go to Schoology
Click on the assigned "test/quiz/assessment."
*If students are still experiencing issues, they should clear the browsing data. Here are the steps that they should follow:
In Chrome, click the 3 dots (top right)
Click "More Tools"
Click "Clear Browsing Data"
Choose "all time" from the Time Range dropdown menu
Clear the data.
*Directing students to regularly update their Chrome OS by following these steps is also a best practice that should be followed.*
If you follow these steps and still experience inconsistent performance with Lockdown Browser, reach out to the Technology Department.
All 6-12 teachers can access the Lockdown Browser through Schoology. LockDown Browser is only intended for use by students taking assessments that have been set up to use LockDown Browser.
Ensure your first exam using LockDown Browser runs smoothly! Have students take an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser, before the graded exam occurs. Leave the quiz available for the duration of the class period, with unlimited attempts, so students can access it again if they use a different computer.
Once a Schoology assessment is started with LockDown Browser, the exam will appear in a full-screen window and all other applications and links are locked down.
LockDown Browser will maintain the “locked” testing environment even if a question contains a link to another web page (which opens another, locked browser window). However, all links that may appear on the new web page will be blocked, so be sure the content that students must see is available from the initial, linked page.
