Review the items on your desktop. If you do not need something, put it in the trash. If you want to keep a file, upload it to Google Drive. Moving forward, save your files on Google Drive only. The more items on your desktop, the slower your computer will run.

Empty your trash can.
Quit out of all programs.
Check for computer updates.
System Preferences - Software Update - “Other updates are available - more info” Install these updates.
We are running Monterey during the 2022/23 school year on our MacBooks.
Do not update to any other operating system.
If you did not restart your computer when updating it, please do so now. Take the check mark out of “Reopen windows when logging back in?”
Delete unused apps. Apps take up storage space, and freeing up space makes it easier for iOS to operate.
Close out all apps. Open apps take up memory, closing them will free it up (hopefully).
Restart your iPad. The restart refreshes the memory and enables it to start from scratch. *No need to do this if you just installed a new iOS
