OVERVIEW:
The goal of French I is the acquisition of correct habits of understanding and speaking French. The listening and speaking approach features patterned practice of basic structures and simple, useful vocabulary in meaningful situations. Reading and writing French are introduced after the student masters the material through listening and speaking practice. Lessons are enhanced by reference to the culture of Spanish-speaking people.

French III has a special emphasis on oral proficiency. Students’ understanding of grammar is strengthened by formal analysis of grammatical structures already familiar to them. French III aims to enhance the students’ vocabulary through further acquisition of reading skills.

OVERVIEW:
The course for Native Speakers is accelerated to cover Spanish I the first semester and Spanish II the second semester. The course is taught in Spanish. Emphasis will be placed on reading, writing, speaking and listening to the Spanish language. It provides instruction directed at student’s continued development of existing competences in Spanish. Students will acquire skills that range from learning grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and reading/writing strategies to enhance their writing, reading and speaking abilities in Spanish. This course offers the Spanish-speaking students the opportunity to study Spanish formally in an academic setting.

OVERVIEW:
The focus of this class is an intensive review and enhancement of Spanish listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Conducted in Spanish, this course provides students with a wide variety of Spanish literature through readings and films for discussion and writing. Advanced grammar is also one of the main components of this course. At the end of the course, students may elect to take the AP Spanish Language Test, which, if passed, may provide college credit.

OVERVIEW: This class will follow Kishwaukee curriculum to cover material for courses SPA201 (3 credits) and SPA202 (3 credits). Students further develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the study of advanced topics in grammar and vocabulary in conjunction with composition, reading, conversational, and discussion activities of short works by a variety of authors from Spain and Latin America, as well as films and other authentic material.

Intrigas is an advanced-level Spanish course that deepens students' linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding through the analysis of literature and film from the Spanish-speaking world. The course emphasizes critical thinking, interpretive skills, and advanced grammar in context by engaging students with a diverse selection of authentic short stories, plays, and films.
