QUESTIONS CONCERNING REGISTRATION AND RTHS CURRICULUM
1. What is the recommended class load for a freshman?
6 units
2. How much credit is given for successful competition of an academic subject for one school
year if the course meets for one hour per day?
1 Credit hour/other courses have fractional credits. A completed semester course will be a ½ credit.
3. How many credits are required for graduation?
22 credits
4. How many credits are required for high school graduation in each subject area?
4 credits of English (total credits must include 1 credit of English I, ½ credit Speech, ½ credit Writing, and ½ credit Literature)
3 credits of Math
2 credits of Science
2 credits of History/Social Science to include World History, American History I and II and Government
½ credit Health
½ credit of Consumer Education
The number of credits of elective courses is dependent on the number of required classes
3 ½ credits of Physical Education courses
Passing state & federal constitution tests
5. How many years will it take to earn a high school diploma?
It is suggested that the student follow the Four-Year Plan, which is written at the beginning of the freshman year.
6. What elective courses can I take?
Elective courses will become a part of the curriculum only when the total class enrollments justify offering those particular courses.
7. Is Driver Training available to all students?
Yes. Students will be scheduled based on their birthdate, with oldest students first. This instruction is given during study halls, before or after school, or in the summer.
8. Are Foreign Exchange students eligible for District 212 Graduation diploma?
No. Exchange students may participate in the graduation ceremony and will receive a certificate of attendance. All credits earned while attending RTHS will be transferred back to the students’ home school.
