Like 3rd grade, singing, listening, and moving to music are the cornerstone activities in the general music curriculum at MLS.
Music engages empathy and social emotional awareness that forms the feelingful foundation of being human. MLS musicians have opportunities to develop all of their musical capacities. In 4th grade, musicians continuing learning how to read and write more challenging music. Students spend time playing Orff pieces. They also experience recorder, boomwhackers, ukulele, and other instruments. Social dances and musical movement round out the 4th grade curriculum.
Fourth grade musicians have the option to join chorus.

In the spring, we will learn about (and try) many of the band instruments we offer in fifth grade so students can make a decision before summer vacation what they would like to play in the fall.
