You will find many examples of math games you can play with your child on this page and within the newsletters. Enjoy!
Counting
(PK 0-20, K 0-20, 0-100)
Count forward and backward by 1s to 50, 100 or even 1000 if your child is ready.
Try counting by 2s, 10s (dimes), or 5s (nickles) too!
Start at different numbers like 4, 11, or 23, not just 0 and 1.
I Have, You Need
(1st 10, 20) (2nd 10, 20, 100 later in the year)
“I have 2, how many do you have if we have 10 all together?”
“8!”
“I have 16, how many do you need to get to 20?”
“4!”
Guess My Number
Partner 1 picks a number.
Partner 2 asks questions trying to guess what the number is.
When you think you know the answer, say it, you only get 2 guesses so be sure to ask lots of good questions like even and odd, is it higher or lower than another number, does it have a 2 in it, etc.

Honk
Materials: Deck of cards (J,Q,K are “honk” cards, A=1), scratch paper
Place the deck of cards face down
Level 1: Dealer pulls 2 cards and places them face up. The first person to add the numbers together and says the sum, keeps the cards.
Level 2: Dealer pulls 3 cards. Add them all together or use them to make a 2-digit number and add the 3rd card to the 2-digit number (24 + 8)
Level 3: Dealer pulls 1-2 cards. First person to add 10, 5 or any number to the cards and say the correct sum keeps the cards.
Level 4: Dealer pulls 4 cards and makes two 2-digit numbers (24+35), feel free to use lower number cards at first.
Honk: If a “honk” card is pulled (J, Q, K) the first person to say honk keeps the card(s).
The person with the most cards at the end wins!
