In March soon after the quarantine began I was asked by Amanda Smith to have HA students put together a show of art to cheer the hearts of our first responders. Hampden Academy Art students rose to the occasion of making meaningful work from their homes with the intent of inspiring and uplifting the spirits of all those who work in the Northern Lights Hospital in Bangor. We wanted to make this show a symphony of color and used the circle to symbolize wholeness, unity, and strength all the qualities that will help us get through this health care crisis. This work entitled, Round and round: concentric circles was inspired by one of the founders of Abstract Art, Vassily Kandinsky.
In addition artist Luciana Knight made a work entitled, We can Beat this, to let the health care workers know that we are all working together to overcome this challenge.
