Even if you don't choose to study visual art, music, film, theater, or dance, Bowdoin is a place where you can immerse yourself in the arts. Each year, our campus is host to hundreds of performances, gallery talks, lectures, recitals, and exhibitions, in addition to a number of student groups who share their talents with the community.

The Colby College Museum of Art is a collecting and teaching museum dedicated to the preservation, display, and interpretation of the visual arts. We embrace within our collections works of art from diverse cultures and historical periods, with a focus on American art, and commitment to collecting and exhibiting contemporary art. We manage these resources for the benefit of the Colby College community, the region, and the nation, and we aspire to display works that embody the highest standards of achievement.
The Theater and Dance Department offers a combined major in theater and dance, which allows students to choose area(s) of concentration. The department also offers a major in interdisciplinary computation focusing on the relationship between information technologies and stage design.

MCMA is more than a music school; it is a community that encourages people young and old to find and embrace who they are by learning an instrument, developing their own voice on that instrument, and then sharing their voice through performance.
We combine a classical music education with a contemporary approach to provide high quality music instruction to students of all ages and skill levels in a fun, relaxed, and creative environment. Our dedicated faculty provide outstanding instruction and creative mentoring to our students, building confidence and helping students feel connected to the whole MCMA community.
National Association for Gifted Children
NAGC's mission is to support those who enhance the growth and development of gifted and talented children through education, advocacy, community building, and research. We aim to help parents and families, K-12 education professionals including support service personnel, and members of the research and higher education community who work to help gifted and talented children as they strive to achieve their personal best and contribute to their communities.
Since the successful reopening in February 2017, and with a renewed focus on audience engagement and accessibility, the PMA has aimed to build on the new wave of energy and support at the museum. We have worked tirelessly to be be a brave space that champions freedom of expression. This has meant dedicating ourselves to presenting exhibitions and hosting programs that reflect the museum’s diverse communities and audiences, and to create experiences with art that strengthen bonds and bring us together.

Our venues span historic and modern theaters, galleries, and classrooms to ensure the best possible experience for both you and the artists.
The Rockland Historical Society, located in the lower level of the Rockland Public Library, was organized in 1977, as the Shore Village Historical Society. We Maintain an extensive display of Civil War artifacts and the archives of the Rockland Grand Army of the Republic. Collections include exhibits of marine art and local memorabilia. We preserve local business records, personal papers and several large photograph collections. We provide several free educational programs each year and have published six books on Rockland history and assisted in the publication of several others.
