Course Description:Â This class studies the development of Western civilization via the ancient Middle East and Europe. From beginnings in Mesopotamia and Egypt, we examine social, economic, and political advancement over millennia. The ancient Greeks and Romans are a special focus of this course, and extensive time will be spent understanding their impact. After the fall of Rome, Europe entered the long Medieval period or Middle Ages, the subject of our concluding unit. Please click here for the course syllabus.
