Course Description:Â This class focuses on the growth and development of modern Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Following a review of the Allied victory in World War II, we will engage the era of 1945-present while making connections to today. Students will practice social studies skills while learning the key figures and events that have shaped our world today. Example topics of study include the Chinese Revolution, Asian and African independence movements, the fall of the Soviet Union, Arab-Israeli conflict and terrorism, struggles for democracy in Latin America, and the European Union.
