The Dance department offers comprehensive courses in jazz, modern, ballet, composition and world dance. All courses include technique, theory, composition and presentation. The study of dance involves the student intellectually, emotionally and physically. Students develop self-confidence as they gain the ability to express themselves through movement. Demands made on the body and mind develop the student’s organizational, problem solving and decision making skills. Students will learn important anatomical, nutritional and historical perspectives as they relate to dance.
Various dance genres such as jazz, modern, ballet, and world dance are studied at all grade levels. The courses include technique classes, dance composition and performance practice, dance history, anatomy and music.
