Next Steps

We will spend 25 minutes to complete the activity in this section.

Choose your own adventure!

Depending on your comfort level with Desmos, you may want to spend some time playing with basic Desmos, exploring more of the pre-made activities, or trying your hand at creating a new Desmos lesson. Choose from the tasks below!

Task 1: Basic Desmos

To continue your learning from the video shown on the introductory page,

A) click here and select a topic to explore other features of the graphing calculator (derivatives, functions, graph settings, inequalities,...to name a few!).

B) click here and select a topic to explore other general Desmos tools (scientific calculator, classroom activities, geometry tool, etc.).

Task 2: Exploring Desmos Activities

Click here to go to the teacher Desmos portal. Create your teacher account - it is important to create an account where your activities and student work will be housed.

Start searching (and trying!) different pre-made activities. Try searching for any of the following:

  • Activity type (polygraph, match, card sort, marbleslides, game, etc.)
  • Topic (slope, fraction, shape, transformation, numbers, etc.)

Tips!

  • You can try any of these activities as a student by clicking on the blue STUDENT PREVIEW button.
  • Bookmark the ones you like by clicking the BOOKMARK BUTTON at the top of the activity page (beside the Teacher Guide button).
  • You can also check out the bundles (several activities around a given topic) - see the bottom left of the https://teacher.desmos.com/ page.
  • Not sure where to start? Peruse the "Most Popular" activities (link at top left of https://teacher.desmos.com/ page).

Task 3: Build Your Own Desmos Activity

Watch this video for a quick overview of how to create your own activity in Desmos.

When you're ready, go to https://teacher.desmos.com/custom and click New Activity in the top right corner to get started!

There are LOTS of how-to videos here to help you make the most of your activity!

At the end of this task, share your thoughts here!
