Welcome to Mrs. Blough's math class. I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Hudson as we collaboratively deliver instruction by the use of the enVisions math series. This is a problem based and visual learning program. It incorporates a deep conceptual understanding of concepts by the use of visual models, while focusing on individualized learning and 3- act enrichment tasks.
The class will begin with a collaborative problem solving activity where students must think critically about a real world math problems. Following this, a teacher led mini lesson will introduce the concept of the day by enhanced by visual models and concept strategies. Students will then break into personalized groups and rotate to the various stations, which include two teacher led and one individualized stations. During this time, students will participate in hands-on learning experience by playing math related games and or completing content based activities. Finally, students will participate in an independent learning task to demonstrate understanding of the concepts.
The students will be responsible for completing daily math homework, Monday through Thursday in order to reinforce the skills taught each day. The student's grades will be obtained using informal assessments, quick checks, and unit tests.
