I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Hudson as we collaboratively deliver math instruction. In third grade math, our goal is to help every student develop confidence, perseverance, and a positive attitude toward mathematics. We recognize that children learn math in different ways, so we use a variety of teaching strategies to make learning accessible and meaningful for all students.
Our instruction will include hands-on activities, visual models, manipulatives, teacher modeling, guided practice, math discussions, partner work, small-group instruction, and opportunities for independent practice. We will break new concepts into manageable steps, provide repeated opportunities to practice skills, and use different strategies and representations to help students make connections and develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
Students will be encouraged to explain their thinking, ask questions, share strategies, and learn from their mistakes. When students need additional support, we will provide targeted instruction, reteaching, guided practice, and individualized strategies to help them experience success.
We will be using Eureka Math² as our core math program while adapting instruction and providing accommodations and supports to meet the individual learning needs of our students. Our goal is to create a classroom where every child feels supported, capable, and successful in math.
Math Homework:
Students will be expected to complete math homework Monday through Thursday. Homework will provide an opportunity to reinforce the skills and concepts taught in class each day.
