Language Arts

Welcome to Mrs. Blough's Reading/ Language Arts Class.  I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Hudson and we have many engaging activities planned which involve all the modalities of learning (kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and tactile). Our goal is to engage students in fun filled learning experiences, to provide hands-on resources to develop or continue their love for reading and writing, and strive for academic excellence. 

We will be using the Wit and Wisdom english language arts curriculum. This program  is a comprehensive reading and writing program that integrates content knowledge, literary concepts, and fine arts to foster curiosity and inquiry in your minds.  The students will be participating in high-quality engaging literature which aims to improve phonemic awareness, word recognition, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension skills.  Please read the letter below.

We will also be working on the writing process and developing the necessary skills to write narrative, informational, and opinion multi paragraph essays. The students will work towards developing descriptive paragraphs which include an introduction, body, and conclusion using correct conventions (i.e. capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
