Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Judy Hudson and Mrs. Terri Blough will be your child’s third grade teachers. Mrs. Hudson is the “homeroom” teacher and Mrs. Blough is the “intervention specialist” teacher. We will be working together as a team in an educational model called co-teaching. Co-teaching is when two professional teachers educate the students together in the same classroom. Co-teaching is an effective method of instruction which addresses the wide variety of each child’s learning capacity while in the classroom setting.
Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Blough each possess different areas of expertise, and your child will benefit from the strengths of both teachers. We will be collaborating daily to ensure that your child develops a love for learning while meeting, if not exceeding, their potential. We like to say that your child will receive the best of both worlds in this learning environment.
Co-teaching can take a variety of forms. Sometimes both teachers will be in front of the classroom teaching together, while other times one teacher will take the lead and the other teacher will interact with the students to enhance or scaffold the lesson. Co-teaching also allows for increased small group instruction where the teacher to student ratio is significantly lower. Not only will we be co-teaching, but we will be co-planning and co-assessing. We will be working together to analyze the progress of each student and the class as a whole. Finally, we will discuss and implement any accommodations or curricular modifications for students with academic difficulty or provide enrichment activities for high achieving students.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. The best mode of communication is through email. We are excited to team with you and your child, and we look forward to a productive and successful third grade school year.
Co-teaching is utilizing everyone's strengths to "fit" all the pieces together!
