In order to establish a stronger classroom community and to get to know each other, we will conduct a yearlong “Star of the Week” project. Throughout their designated week, the student will share information about him/herself through a number of ways. The following is the schedule of events for the week:
Monday: The student will share a completed Star of the Week poster (provided by the teacher) as well as 5-10 family photos. These items will be sent home prior and should be shared with the teacher (digitally) no later than the Friday before their designated week in order to prepare a slideshow to share with students.
Tuesday: Show and Tell/Mystery Bag. The student will bring a mystery item to school in a brown bag with 3 clues. We will read the 3 clies and makes guesses to figure out what is in the bag.
Wednesday: Students will begin creating a Classbook for the Star of the Week. Our class will create a book that shares what makes our Star of the Week special to us. Nothing is needed from home to prepare for this day.
Thursday: A Guest Reader will come to the school to read a book that I will send home on the Monday of your student's star of the week. If someone cannot come in person you can send a video reading the book. Please email me the video by Wednesday of your child's week.
Friday: The student will be able to share a Favorite Song or choose a Go Noodle for a class dance party.
For organizational purposes please have these items ready and shared with the teacher before the MONDAY of your child’s designated week (A book will be sent home for the Guest Reader to read on Friday):
Student of the week poster (brought in or emailed photo to teacher)
5-10 personal photos (brought in or emailed to teacher)
Mystery Item
School appropriate favorite song or GoNoodle (please email along with photos so I can have the song previewed and ready)
A reminder, as well as all necessary items, will be sent home one week prior to your child’s designated week. I am excited to see what everyone has to share and learn more about your children!!
