English Language Arts (ELA) & Social Studies
I share students with Ms. Correia
I started teaching at GES in 2009. I taught 2nd grade for my first seven years at GES but I had always wanted to teach 5th grade. I think that the last year of elementary school is a wonderful and special time. Students are confident and comfortable but also excited for the next step in their educational journey.
I grew up in Danvers and double majored in Elementary Education and Psychology at Salem State University (then Salem State College) and graduated with my bachelor's degrees in 2005. After substitute teaching for the cities of Wilmington and Salem for two years I got a Masters of Art in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education at Boston College in 2009. I graduated from Salem State University again in 2016, this time with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Educational Leadership.
I love teaching English language arts (ELA) and social studies. I am a total history geek! In my free time I actually recreate historic clothing and food. I teach other adults about the 18th and early 19th century by leading workshops and by presentating at museums, historic sites, and living history events. My partner and I have two daughters named Georgie and Millie and we love to go to parks and museums together.
I believe that young people and adults deserve the same amount of respect from all people.
I know a lot of things which is how I know that there is still so much I do not yet know. I plan to teach my students the things that I have learned but I hope that they will teach me too because I love to learn new things.
I know that my students will learn more from me if they trust me. I am always honest with my students because I know that I need to earn their trust. I expect that my students will be honest with me too.
