Food-borne illnesses are a burden on public health and contribute significantly to the cost of health care. Each year food-borne illnesses sicken 48 million Americans (approximately 17% of people in the United States) and lead to 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths. Young children are particularly vulnerable to food-borne illnesses and all child care providers must take food safety seriously. Please read the instructions below carefully!

*If you already have your food handlers card, skip to step 4!
Step 1: Watch the Oregon Food Safety Videos in order. You may want to take a few notes because you can use them on the test. Make sure you know what jaundice is as well as the main role of the person in charge in a kitchen.
Step 2: Log on to orfoodhandlers.com This is the only place you can take your food handlers test in Central Oregon at this time. Once there, click on "log in/ register" on the left side of the screen. Then choose "login for students". You will need to put your name, address and birthday to register. Make sure you put the correct county you live in. Since you are not currently doing this because you work at a restaurant, leave that part blank. The good news is that once you do that, you can log in any time to retrieve your test scores and get your card, even if it is next year that you need it!
Step 3: Select "take the test" This is a 20 question test and you have to get 15 correct to pass, It is an easy test if you watched the videos in step 1!
Step 4: Take a picture or screenshot of your score when you are done and upload below on the form by clicking "Fill Out Form". If you already have your Food Handler's, please submit a picture of it below the same way!
