DThe participant will conduct a small-group research project (e.g. Zapotec communities, indigenous education, 2006 Protests, Oaxacan food, legends, children's literature). The project must include at least one interview conducted in Spanish or English, a short summary of the topic, one related observation, application to a US teaching and learning context, and resources for further study.
This can be a group or individual project.
Focus it around your interests.
The entire last week of the project is dedicated to finishing this.
You'll have help from my assistant while in Oaxaca.
Just let the idea come to you, don't fret in the first couple of weeks.
Generate a question you want to answer. Then find someone who can help you answer it. Find some other resources, too. Then report back to us. You don't need to write a paper, but be creative and interesting in your presentation to us.
