This short-term project will be based in the capital of the state of Oaxaca, also called Oaxaca, and it aims to develop K-12 educators and administrators who will understand that language and literacy teaching and learning are embedded in sociopolitical and historical issues of power and that pedagogical design must recognize the multiplicity and dynamicity of language and literacy practices. Additionally, this project aims to help educators and administrators understand that Oaxaca is a superdiverse area of multiple languages and cultures and often a site of social struggle with a long history connected to colonization, political oppression, and racism. Finally, the project aims to develop further the Spanish or Zapotec language abilities of K-12 educators and administrators.
