Kinder - Puerto Rico

Above see our kinder students learning to describe community helpers in Spanish. Below see our kinder students practicing naming colors in Spanish as they color Calaveras for Dia de los Muertos!

For their holiday celebration project our kinder students learned about parrandas in Puerto Rico (their country of study). Each student made a water bottle güiro which is a Latin American percussion instrument typically made from a hollow gourd. Parrandas are similar to a Christmas caroling tradition. During parrandas friends and families gather in front of homes with instruments including güiros. They play the instruments and sing traditional Christmas songs. Our kinder students had so much fun learning these traditions in Spanish class and having their own parranda! See pics below
