At Forest North, we partner with families to optimize the learning experience for our students. We know that the more parents are involved in their children's lives, the better students engage with learning and the higher their achievement is. Each year, we plan a wide variety of events, during the school day and after hours, for families to be at school, engage with our community, meet other families and support the work of our students and teachers. The family engagement events for this year are listed above. Please join us for as many as you can! We value your partnership and want you to stay connected.
Classroom Parties
Elementary students in Round Rock ISD participate in 3 parties per year:
Winter parties - in December just before Winter break
Valentine's Day parties - mid-February
End of Year parties - last week of school
Staff may plan smaller celebrations or parties as students reach goals or earn rewards, but these 3 parties are the main ones that are open to families during the year. (We do not hold birthday parties at school, but read below for how we recognize student birthdays).
Families are Invited
Families are invited to these parties that are usually held during the last hour of the school day. All visitors on campus are required to sign in at the front office with their ID/driver's license and wear a Visitor's Badge.
Volunteer/Donation Opportunities
Teachers may ask for parent volunteers to assist with the parties by donating food items, decorating for the party, planning games or activities, setting up or cleaning up, etc., etc.
Forest North Birthday Recognition Policy
We realize birthdays are a special time for our students and want to recognize them at school (even if a birthday falls on the weekend or over summer). If you'd like to send in a birthday treat for the class to share, please follow these guidelines:
Birthday recognitions are held at the end of the school day, around 2:40, only. These are not parties, just simple ways to shout out kids and recognize their special day.
Parent may choose to send in one small, individualized birthday treat to share with the class. Examples can include cupcakes (individual cupcakes, not cupcake cakes please), cookies, doughnuts etc., but non-edible items like pencils, fidgets, stickers, etc., are also great. Usually students bring these in with them at the beginning of the day for teachers to hold. Parents can also drop off in the front office.
Please do not send party supplies, balloons, decorations or gifts. Again, this is a short recognition, not a party.
If sending in food, it must be purchased from a store (health inspection kitchen required). No homemade items can be distributed. Please check with your child's teachers about any allergies among the students in the class.
Please do not send anything that has to be cut or scooped and then served. Time is very limited at the end of the day, so the treat needs to be grab and go style.
Due to privacy protections, teachers are not allowed to share class contact information with you for parties held outside of school. You may send an invitation to your teacher via email and she/he will share with all students in the class for you. Students can also pass out paper party invitations, if they have one for every classmate.
