¡Excelente esfuerzo Águilas!
Caldwell Heights Elementary school students donated 379 boxes of poptarts and cereal to the Texas Baptist Children’s home Friday.
“We wanted to celebrate the IB attribute of caring during Kindness week within our school community,” Stacy Aleskin, CHE school counselor said.
Students from grades preschool to fifth grade brought in the breakfast resources. According to the TBCH, cereal and poptarts are a much-needed resource for families.
In an effort to celebrate Kindness week and the IB trait of Caring, the elementary-aged children at the Title I school pulled their resources together for the school-wide donation project.
The children’s facility helper said she was delighted with the donations. In fact, there was one family already requesting the specific type of cereal at the top of the pile.
“The family requested Reese’s Puffs cereal, and there it is; this is perfect,” she said.
The two truck loads of boxes crowded the floor of the food pantry. The children’s home volunteers said they were excited about the problem of finding places to store the donations.
“It’s just a chance to give back to our community, and we had a lot of fun with the process too,” Ms. O’Hare, CHE counselor, said.
The CHE classes with the most donations will celebrate with popsicle and ice cream parties.
Students wrote about caring actions on their heart leaves. The tree stands tall as a reminder of how caring can impact the community.
