It is never too early to start discussing college and careers with your child. At Caldwell Heights Elementary, it is our goal to make sure that all students have the opportunity to learn about different colleges and career choices. During guidance lessons we introduce students to different colleges and careers. We will also hold pep-rally's to celebrate our pledge to work hard, and make NO Excuses in order to be prepared for secondary education. We encourage you to discuss the following with your child.
Talk with your child about your education and career. What has worked well, and what do you wish you had done differently?
Make sure to explore many different careers with your child. As they become interested in different things, see what types of careers match those interests.
Discuss with your child their college and career goals. Do they have a certain college they really want to go to? What is it about that particular college that draws them to it?
Look at the websites of many different colleges and training programs in order to help your child see some of the different options available to them.
Encourage your child to do the best they can now, so that they will be better equipped for college and their career.
