About Mrs. Kimsey

Hello!  Welcome to fifth grade! I am so thrilled to have your child in my class! We are going to learn so many fun and interesting things this year! My name is Amy Kimsey and this is my 12th year at the Cactus Ranch campus.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself!

I am originally a Texan, born in Denton - where some of my relatives still live. I spent a bit of time living in Durham, North Carolina (Go Duke!), but spent most of my life growing up in DeKalb, Illinois with my amazing parents and younger brother. After graduating high school, I moved to Colorado to attend the University of Northern Colorado.  Four short years later, I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Mathematics and moved to Austin to spend two years teaching fourth-grade math and science in Manor ISD. At the end of my second year, I gave up my dream city of Austin to move to Independence, Missouri to marry my college sweetheart, Bob- pictured below on the left.  I taught third grade for three years there.  We returned to Texas 12 years ago and I have no intentions of ever leaving again!  We have two beautiful daughters, Caroline (turning 9 in January), who is starting 3rd grade this year at CRE and Elaina (turning 5 in January). Caroline is my little thespian and Elaina is the comedienne of the family. Both girls are constantly entertaining us with dances, songs, and new discoveries.  Our "first child", a precious Bernese Mountain Dog named Keely, will be 11 years old in April.

I am looking forward to my 17th year of teaching and am thrilled your child will get to be such a huge part of it!

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Scholastic Book Club

One-Time Class Activation Code: GMWKB

Dear Families,

Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why I am so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club this school year.

With Scholastic Reading Club:

Each month, your child will bring home Reading Club flyers. Together you can choose from books hand-selected by teachers and experts, and then order online or by returning your order form and payment to me.

I'm excited to keep our class reading!

Thank you for your support,
