MRS. EMERSON

I'm beyond excited to be teaching fourth grade math and science at Cactus Ranch Elementary! Fourth grade was my favorite year of school when I was younger and hopefully it will be the same for you.

I grew up on Kent Island, Maryland which is an island in the Chesapeake Bay… there are no palm trees on the island but lots of blue crabs! I graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Mathematics and earned my Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Capella University. I taught 2nd grade for three years and 4th grade for four years in Maryland before moving to Austin in 2021.

My husband, Mr. William, and I have an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) named Ember and two cats named Luna and Zora who all have more energy than a room full of fourth graders (believe it or not)! Outside of the classroom, fitness is a big part of my life. I have ran 5 full marathons including the Boston marathon and compete at the national level in powerlifting. I also love traveling (I've visited over 15 countries) and am a big "foodie"!

I absolutely LOVE forming relationships with my students and their families so it is important to me that all my students feel safe, loved, and successful every single day in my classroom. I can’t wait to spend the next year learning all about YOU and helping you grow as both a person and student!
