K-2 REPORT CARD PARENT INFORMATION

Students in Kinder-Grade 2  The RRISD Primary Report Card is standards-based and progress is reported on the knowledge and skills your child is expected to master at each grade level. Standards are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).  This report card also gives feedback on behavioral skills.

Background

At Round Rock Independent School District, we believe in providing a standards-based continuum for your child’s education, focusing on the knowledge and skills they need to master at each grade level.  Our continuum aligns with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to ensure a comprehensive and effective learning experience.

Progress Levels:

Understanding the Report Card

The goal for each indicator on the report card is to reach the "Met Standard" level, indicating end-of-quarter mastery for that concept or skill. As the year progresses, the expectations for each indicator become more challenging, leading to "end-of-year" expectations by the fourth quarter.

Performance Indicator Descriptions

To fully understand each indicator, you can refer to the Report Card Rubric document, which correlates to the core content areas of your child's grade level. The rubric contains statements that describe what students need to know and be able to do. Your child's teacher should have these rubrics posted on their class website, or you can access them on the RRISD website (https://roundrockisd.org/report-cards/)

Understanding Progress

It is important to note that different grading periods may show different levels for a concept or skill. This doesn't indicate a lack of progress; rather, it is possible for a child to demonstrate mastery during one grading period and approach the standard in another. The Performance Level is based on the teacher's observations and evaluations for that specific grade period.

Home-School Communication

Parents of students in K-2 will receive the report card four times a year. Only the envelope needs to be returned; the report card is for you to keep. Please sign the envelope and return it within a week. The report card includes a comment box where your child's teacher may provide additional information or request a conference. You are also invited to enter your comments. The signature box on the envelope allows you to share your thoughts about the grading period or request a conference.

Progress Reports/Conferences- Parents and teachers may request a conference at any time for academic or behavioral concerns. Parents in grades 3-5 are able to view grades at any time through the Home Access Center.  Parents may set up a Home Access account at https://roundrockisd.org/hac/
