Introduction
Welcome to The Romsey School, and for those of you with students higher up the school, welcome back to Year 7! Below is a bit of information about our PTA, the Romsey School Parent Teacher Association. It is very unusual for a Secondary School to have a PTA but we believe it is important in many ways to support our children, the teachers and parents and to have a bit of fun along the way!
Fundraising
Below is a summary of some of the things we do:
We serve refreshments at school events, including at the annual school production, the Carol Service and the summer arts celebration evening.
We hold events such as a family bingo evening and adult only quizzes throughout the school year.
The Romsey School Lottery is another of our fundraisers. For one payment of £30 in September you will be allocated a number and one number will be drawn each month. Half the money is returned in prizes and half is used by the PTA for extras / subsidies for pupils. More details to follow!
We support the second hand uniform sales within the school.
Benefits
All money raised is used within the school to benefit as many pupils as possible. We receive bids from Departments in the school and hold a meeting to discuss them. Last year we agreed to spend over £4,300 and this was spent within as many Departments as possible.
This included:
Provision of revision guides to support GCSE Sociology
Breast and testicle self examination sets
Supporting an author’s visit to the school
Supporting the new GCSE photography course with camera equipment
Supporting the essential maintenance of design and technology equipment.
Purchasing of new microphones to support school events in the hall
We also approached local companies who were able to help with donation of gardening equipment for the school’s learning support team.
Please join us!
We would love for all our new parents to support the PTA if they are able to. We are very open to any ideas you may have and would welcome new members. Please follow us on Facebook to find out more about upcoming events. Find us at The Romsey School PTA. You can also contact us on pta@theromseyschool.org
