We value our smart school uniform as it ensures that all of our pupils feel an equal part of our school community. Wearing a uniform teaches you to be smart and ensures that you are ready to approach your learning with a professional mind-set. Pupils are, therefore, expected to wear the official school uniform for the full five years that you attend the school. It should be worn correctly both in school and on the journey to and from school. Details of the current uniform expectations along with details of our suppliers and financial support can be found here on the main school website. Second hand uniform can be purchased via The Romsey School PTA, further information is available upon request via pta@theromseyschool.org
As a school we strongly encourage staff and students to walk or cycle to school if at all possible (see maps/information below). This will help to reduce the school's environmental impact and is also a great idea for wellbeing. Alternatively using public transport or school buses is a good option. If you wish to enquire about the subsidised buses from Southampton, Totton and the Landford area, please contact the Finance Office via email on transport@romsey.hants.sch.uk. If you have any other enquiries regarding school transport please contact Hampshire Passenger Transport Services.
Walking to School Hampshire County Council have produced these resources to help you plan your child's journey to school with them. These maps have also been posted on their My Journey Website where you will find lots of other useful information.
Cycling to School Bike racks are located behind East Block. All students must wear helmets to ride to and from school as well as wearing high vis clothing and/or lights in the winter. The bike racks are covered by CCTV cameras but nevertheless a bike lock is reccomended for all users.
Travel by Train Romsey Station is a 10 minute walk from the school and there are regular services from Southampton, Salisbury & The Test Valley.
School Bus - Hampshire Services If your child lives more than a predetermined distance from the school they may be elegible for free bus transport funded by Hampshire. You should have been informed of this in your school place offer letter but if further information is needed, please visit their website here.
School Bus - School Services The school also provides bus transport from the Southampton area and two minibus services from the Totton area. We also run a late bus to support pupils taking part in afterschool activities. Further details can be found on the Transport page of the school website here.
Public Bus Services A number of our pupils with good independence skills will also use the Bluestar Public Service from Southampton Central Station to Romsey Bus Station. This then entails a 10 minute walk to school via the Abbey Footpath. Further details can be found on their website here.
Travel by Car If there is no choice but for students to travel by car then parents are encouraged to drop off them off in central Romsey or the Waitrose car park in order to avoid congestion in the residential areas around the school. This will then give students a 10 minute walk into school - use the walking maps above to help plan this. Parents should never drop off or collect students directly from the school site other than after an afterschool activity.
