How the Class Works: The 50/50 Split
50% Theory (In the Classroom): Unlocking the strategy, planning, and science behind sports and events.
50% Practical (On the Field/Gym): Getting moving, testing your fitness, coaching your mates, and putting your ideas into action.
Unit 1: Community Recreation
You’ll look at how sport and recreation bring communities together. You’ll investigate how to get different groups of people active (from kids to elders) and design fun, inclusive activities that make people want to move.
Unit 2: Coaching & Officiating
Ever wanted to run the drills or make the big referee calls? This unit turns you into the boss. You’ll learn how to communicate like a pro coach, design killer training sessions, master the rules of the game, and keep everyone playing safe and fair.
Unit 3: Fitness for Sport & Rec
This is all about fitness and training smarter. You’ll dive into how the human body responds to exercise, learn how to build effective workout programs, and figure out how to optimize performance for yourself and others.
Unit 4: Event Management
Go behind the scenes to see how massive sporting events actually happen. You get to be the coordinator—planning, promoting, and running a real tournament or sports carnival from scratch.
Assessments
Your assessments in Sport & Rec are completely practical and match real-world jobs. Managing the Swimming Carnival Water Slide will be your first assessment!
For your assessment, you will investigate the task, plan the task, perform the task and evaluate your performance.

Why study Religion and Ethics?
A course of study in Religion and Ethics can establish a basis for further education and employment in any field, as it helps students develop the skills and personal attributes necessary for engaging efficiently, effectively and positively in future life roles. It provides them with opportunities to gain knowledge and understanding of themselves as human beings, to clarify their personal beliefs and ethical values, and to assess their personal choices, vision and goals. It helps students develop an understanding of themselves in the context of their family, their community and the workplace.
