A theme is a melodic phrase that tells us the constant vibe of the song. This theme will continue to come back over and over but not necessarily the same way every time...
A variation is when we take an example of our theme and we play it again but a bit differently to before. It must still be similar enough that we can hear our theme still, just with added spice.

A scale is a group of notes in ascending (going up) or descending (going down) order. You know the name of the scale by what NOTE IT STARTS ON.
