You’re going to be taught 1 lesson of Art each week. Over the course of the year you’ll complete 5 different projects. One each half term.
The 1st project will be looking at drawing.
Don’t worry if you struggle to draw, you’ll be given lots of advice. You’ll try lots of ways to make marks with your pencil, use simple shapes to construct a drawing and learn how to use shading to make objects look solid.
The 2nd project will be painting.
You’ll learn lots of new painting techniques and study the work of Vincent Van Gogh. He will help inspire you to create a landscape painting.
Your 3rd project will be clay.
You’ll learn how to make a pinch pot and develop this into a clay owl.
Your 4th project is textiles.
You’ll learn how to use a sewing machine and get the chance to make a tie-dye cushion.
Your 5th and final project will look at Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and you’ll produce some printed illustrations based on your own stories.
As you can see there are lots of exciting things to look forward to in your year 7 Art course.
You’ll learn lots of new skills, try lots of new techniques and develop your knowledge of different artists.
The Art department are looking forward to seeing you all soon.
