RUSD CIVIC SHOWCASE
April 22, 2024
Riverside Convention Center
In partnership with RUSD’s Innovation and Learner Engagement Department RUSD students and teachers took part in the Inspiring Action with Storytelling iPad Pilot, an initiative that infuses high-quality student media production with Civic Action Engagement, fostering student creativity and agency by taking students from consumers to professional storytelling content creators.
Students participating in this pilot have had the opportunity to apply their Civic Action Engagement project research to create a multitude of process artifacts including film, podcasts, Public Service Announcements, infographics, and interactive digital books showcasing their efforts and findings.
In addition to the in-person Civic Action Engagement Showcase, the culminating project of this pilot will be a Student Storytelling Showcase, featuring student-created content from diverse grade levels, school sites, and specialty programs across RUSD. Inspiring Action with Storytelling iPad Pilot combines essential 21st-century skills with rigorous content, increasing engagement and improving academic outcomes.
