MODERN COMMUNICATIONS is an elective course geared toward students who plan on entering post-secondary education or a career field that requires strong communication skills. The class--which will focus on persuasive, informative, and demonstrative speeches--will include techniques to lessen speaker anxiety; utilize visual aids (such as PowerPoint, etc.) to enhance presentations; and, to objectively evaluate both their own speaking performance and that of others. In addition, the students will continue to build organizational writing strategies and research skills needed to develop effective speeches.
