At the end of Trimester 3, Riverdale Grade School 8th graders take the Avant Spanish STAMP 4s during their regularly scheduled Spanish classes. In May 2024, the test will take place the week of May 20. The STAMP 4s is used as the Spanish 1 final and is very different from state testing.

The STAMP 4s is a language proficiency exam of the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The reading and listening sections are multiple-choice computer adaptive tests. Students will receive their results almost immediately. The writing and speaking sections each consist of three open response questions. Students will receive their results typically within a week.
On Monday, June 3, students that completed the STAMP 4s before field studies will receive a paper copy of their results.
What can your learner do?
ACTFL Novice-High
Reading and listening:
Learners understand the main idea and some details in written and audio texts based on topics of everyday life. They rely on high-frequency vocab, cognates, context clues, and visuals (pictures, facial expressions). Reading or listening multiple times is needed.
Writing and speaking:
Learners can ask and respond to questions using short, simple sentences. They are limited to familiar or predictable topics and situations. Their responses rely heavily on memorized or rehearsed phrases or recombinations of those phrases. Their writing or speaking is comprehensible to a sympathetic reader or listener (i.e. there are mistakes).
