Q: What is the theme of RSGF 2025?
A: The theme is “Coexistence – What might we do to create a society where everyone can live together peacefully and harmoniously?” with subtopics on equity and equality, cultural identity and diversity, natural environment and sustainability, technology and society, and mental health.
Q: When and where will the event be held?
A: The event runs from November 9 to 13, 2025 at Ritsumeikan High School, Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, Japan. Schools should plan to arrive on November 8 and depart on November 14.
Q: What is the official working language of the forum?
A: All sessions will be conducted in English.
Q: Who can participate?
A: Students in grades 10 to 12 (ages 15–18) or their equivalent are eligible. Each school should also send 1–2 chaperone teachers and ideally their principal (or equivalent).
Q: Is there a participation fee?
A: Participation in the event is free of charge. Schools are responsible for their own international flights and personal expenses.
Q: What airport should we fly into?
A: Please book flights arriving at Kansai International Airport (KIX) between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on November 8. Arrivals outside this time or at other airports may incur additional travel costs.
Q: Where will participants stay?
A: Participants will stay either in hotels, our dormitory, or with host families. Homestays are only available for schools with existing reciprocal exchange agreements with Ritsumeikan. Students placed in hotels/dormitories may share rooms with peers of the same gender from their school.
Q: Who covers accommodation costs?
A: Ritsumeikan covers the accommodation costs for the event dates (November 8–14). Any extended stays must be arranged and paid for by the participating school.
Q: Are there COVID-19 restrictions?
A: Japan has lifted special restrictions, but if a participant tests positive during the forum, they may need to quarantine. Additional accommodation or related costs must be covered by the participating school.
Q: What are the academic requirements?
A: Each school must prepare:
Posters (A0 vertical, max 5) covering different subtopics of the theme.
A school presentation video (max 5 minutes) uploaded to Padlet before the forum.
Q: What are the rules for poster presentations?
A: Posters must be prepared and printed in advance (A0, vertical). Schools should bring them to the event. If printing is not possible, please contact us in advance.
Q: How are students assigned to subtopics?
A: If your school brings fewer than five students, each student should select a different subtopic. With five or more students, ensure at least one participant per subtopic.
Q: What is the cultural performance?
A: On Day 4, each school presents a live performance (max 5 minutes) showcasing their culture—such as dances, songs, or skits. Videos or slideshows alone are not permitted, though they may be used as part of a performance.
Q: What expenses should participants prepare for?
A: Personal expenses such as snacks, drinks, and souvenirs are not covered. Schools must also cover flights and any extra travel or accommodation outside the official dates.
Q: What support is available for international participants?
A: Ritsumeikan provides local transportation, meals, and guidance throughout the event. Airport pickup is available at Kansai International Airport during designated arrival hours.
