SECTION 2
PARENT/SPECTATOR/VISITOR
POLICIES & EXPECTATIONS
Spectators are invaluable to our student-athletes' experiences at athletic fixtures. As guests of Ruamrudee International School, spectators must comply with the school’s rules and expectations at all athletic events. These expectations are to protect the rights of students to participate without fear of interference and to permit the administrators and officials of school athletic activities to perform their duties without interference.
To foster positive sportsmanship, we outline the following expectations for all spectators. As a member school of both BMAC and SEASAC, Ruamrudee International School is dedicated to promoting fairness, equity, and safety at all athletic events. We ask that all parents, guardians, and supporters conduct themselves positively and sportsmanlike, recognizing that interscholastic competitions should provide a safe environment that encourages learning and growth for all student-athletes.
To promote positive sportsmanship, we ask all spectators to adhere to the following guidelines:
Respect: All spectators must show respect toward coaches, umpires/officials, administrators, and fellow spectators.
No Intimidation: Engaging in physical or verbal intimidation or abuse toward any player, official, umpire, coach, or spectator is strictly prohibited.
Playing Area: Spectators must always remain off the playing surface and designated team bench areas, including during halftime.
Facility and Equipment: Spectators must treat all facilities and equipment respectfully.
Seating: Please remain in your designated seating section throughout the event.
Compliance: Spectators must follow any directives from facility supervisors, administrators, and event staff.
Cheering: Spectators are encouraged to cheer for their team positively and avoid disparaging remarks toward opposing teams.
Negative remarks, vulgar language, and unwarranted physical interaction are direct violations of positive sportsmanship and could result in the following:
Removal from the sports event.
Inability to attend future competitions for all or a portion of the season.
Inability to attend all future competitions.
RIS Ruamrudee International School holds practices and various unofficial matches/events throughout each season. During these sessions, we expect spectators to adhere to the following guidelines:
Support for Coaches and Programs: Please support the coach and the RIS Athletic program by ensuring your child understands the expectations of registering for an RIS sports team.
Preparation: Ensure your child has all the equipment and items for practices and matches.
Non-Interference: Do not interfere with practices at any time.
Encourage Fair Play: Promote the values of fair competition, respect, friendship, team spirit, equality, and integrity. These principles, including tolerance, care, excellence, and joy, are essential to fostering a positive sporting environment on and off the court/field.
Respect Coaching Decisions: Respect coaches' decisions regarding contest strategy, athletes’ play status, and playing time.
Communication: Communicate with the team coach through the appropriate channels outlined below:
Email the coach: Expect a response from either the coach or the athletics director within 24 hours.
Email the athletics director: athletics@rism.ac.th (expect a response within 24 hours).
The Athletics Office and coaches are required to communicate primarily through Email. Therefore, parents are expected to check their emails regularly, as all necessary information regarding an athletics season will be shared by email.
LINE is also a commonly used communication tool throughout the RIS Community, but it is not the primary communication tool. Coaches may create team LINE groups each season. However, this should be a communication link between coaching staff and parents/guardians, not coaches to students.
Students must be available for all games and practices once registered for a team. Parents, please help support this policy by being mindful of the seasonal schedule.
Parents and students need to be communicating any possible absences prior to the event, whether these are for friendly fixtures, practices, or tournaments. Failure to communicate absences may result in reduced playing time, or in extreme cases, removal from the team.
For SEASAC events, student-athletes are supervised by coaches and athletic chaperones throughout the trip. While parents are welcome to travel and support their child and the team during SEASAC events, students must remain with their teams and adhere to the pre-arranged itinerary unless prior approval is obtained from the Athletic Administration.
At RIS Ruamrudee International School, we value respect, integrity, and sportsmanship both on and off the field. Ambassadors of Ruamrudee, it is imperative that we conduct ourselves with the highest level of respect towards teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and spectators.
By adhering to this code of conduct, we, as members of the Ruamrudee International School community, demonstrate our commitment to excellence, integrity, and respect in all aspects of our athletic endeavors.
