Deanna Kahler was raised in Wadena and graduated from Valley of Elgin before attending Upper Iowa University in Fayette, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services. She began her career as a social worker in long-term care, where she developed a strong passion for advocacy and supporting individuals through life’s challenges. This passion led her to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, a role she served in for 17 years.
After many years in long-term care leadership, Deanna felt a strong pull to return to more hands-on, person-centered work. Her transition to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental illness has allowed her to focus on building meaningful relationships, promoting independence, and helping individuals live fulfilling lives within their communities. Joining the RISE team has been a natural fit, as the organization’s mission closely aligns with her values, experience, and commitment to compassionate, individualized support.
Deanna currently resides outside of Wadena with her husband, Justin, their daughter, Bella, and their two dogs, Libby and Harper. She is also a proud parent of two grown children, Alisha and John. In her free time, Deanna enjoys being outdoors, boating, playing cards, and spending quality time with family and friends.
