PROJECT 3

For this project, you should create an audiovisual work using Max / Jitter that crosses the line from “son et lumière” to “something beautiful” (cf. Alvin Lucier, Seeing Sound), avoiding the “simple-minded” approach to the juxtaposition of sound and image that theorist Christoph Cox has referred to as the “fantasy of a ‘union of the senses.’”

Your work should acknowledge the different modalities in which the senses of sight and sound operate, and account for these differences, resulting in an experience that is more than a sum of its parts.
