Rio School Schedules
The district has two instructional models prepared for the 2021-2022 school year.
The first is in person learning the second option is Rio Virtual Independent Study Model.
Rio Virtual Independent Study Model
When schools reopen for in-person instruction, parents may choose to enroll their child in our Virtual Independent Study model, which means students will learn in the home full-time and not attend school on campus. Parents guide instruction, determining when learning takes place, with teacher support.
Application Process:
Complete an Independent Study (IS) contract* available at the school.
School administrator reviews contract and approves or denies the request.
Request may be denied if administrator has reason to believe that student may not be successful in an IS model.
Teacher(s) assigned to oversee the student’s work and completion of work.
Teacher schedules regular check-ins with the student to provide new assignments, provide instruction, and check in on student’s progress.
Student turns in assignments at regularly scheduled deadlines. Assignments may not require more than one week to complete, but may be turned in at a later date as agreed upon by teacher and student.
*Three or more missed or incomplete assignments may lead to a determination that Virtual Independent Study is not appropriate for the student, and student may be requested to return to the distance learning, blended learning model, or full time on campus model.
