Rio School District is planning on returning to a regular schedule for the fall beginning the first day of school, August 25, 2021.

However, new legislation is in effect for the 2021-2022 school year for parents to enroll their child in an independent study program if they believe that their child’s health may be impacted if they return to in-person instruction. The independent study program will have daily direct instruction with a credentialed teacher for at least three hours daily.

An individualized education plan meeting must be held for any students receiving special education services prior to placement in an independent study program.
