The health and safety of our students, staff, and community is at the center of our planning and decision making for reopening school.
We follow cleaning recommendations and requirements mandated by the Ventura County Office of Education, based on guidelines from the Ventura County Health Care Agency and the Centers for Disease Control.
Custodial crews provide deep cleaning of schools. This includes a Multi-Task Wiping System, Carpet/Upholstery Extractors and Disinfecting Systems for all school sites.
Our COVID-19 supply list for every Rio school includes:

Every school room ventilation and air condition system is being adjusted to maximize the use of fresh air intake and outgo.
New air filters are being installed, according to standards established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
The district's Facilities Work Group and principals have analyzed each school to determine how many students can be in each classroom, based on current distancing guidelines.
Distance: Rooms will be equipped and spaced to assure students and staff have a minimum of 3 ft distance between them as much as possible.
Duration: Schedules and activities will be designed to minimize the durations of time that students and staff remain in indoor areas.
Shielding: Students and staff will be required to wear masks or shields as often as possible.
Outdoor Activity: Outdoor learning areas will be utilized as often as possible as outdoor activity significantly reduces chances of transmission due to a variety of factors.
