DEFINITION OF TERMS
Paternity Leave refers to the benefits granted to a married male private and government employees allowing him not to report for work for seven (7) days but continues to earn the compensation therefor, on the condition that his spouse has delivered a child or suffered a miscarriage for purposes of enabling him to effectively lend support to his wife in her period of recovery and/or in the nursing of the newly-born child.
CONDITION
Employed at the time of childbirth
Have a wife who's pregnant, has given birth, or has had a miscarriage
Legally married
Living with your legitimate wife under one roof
An act granting paternity leave of seven days with full pay to all married male employees in the private and public sectors for the first four (4) deliveries if the legitimate spouse with whom he is cohabiting and for other purposes. Refer to the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act No. 8187 also known as Paternity Leave Act of 1996.
The leave may be availed of not more than sixty (60) calendar days after the date of delivery.
Paternity Leave credits may only be granted and credited to employees for the first four deliveries of the legitimate spouse with whom he is cohabiting
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Copy of Marriage Contract
Birth Certificate or Death Certificate of child
Medical Certificate in case of miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy duly signed by the attending physician
PROCESS
Employees may send an email to Total Rewards copying their Supervisor and Manager with scanned copies of the required documents
And/or the Supervisor and Manager endorse the request of the employee to the Total Rewards Team
Total Rewards forwards the request to Acquire CompBen requesting activation
Acquire CompBen credits the 7-day leave to the Employee’s MyPay account
